ABOUT US


On the 12th of August 1945 the foundation stone of Holy Child College (the combined Catholic Teacher-Training and Secondary School for girls) was solemnly blessed by His Lordship Bishop William Porter and laid by the Honorable T. R. O. Mangin, the Chief Commissioner of the Gold Coast Colony.  The Commissioner was very happy that one of the post-war projects was to be the provision of education for girls. On Friday the 21st of June 1946 the college was formally opened by His Excellency the Governor Sir Allan Maxwell Burns who was accompanied by his wife.

Since its opening, the school has trained some of the best female teachers in Ghana.  The school currently offers the cert"A"3yr Post Sec course and offers general courses that prepare teachers for both primary and junior secondary schools.  However the government is making plans to upgrade the school to run diploma course

Sisters of the Holy Child Jesus are a great part of the school.  In the past, Principals have been Reverend sisters.

The two sisters mentioned below are old students and are currently 
Tutors.

             Sr.Gertrude Denkabe SHCJ (old student, training college)
